Sir James Bucknall

Sir James Bucknall is a Partner at Scott Capital Partners, where he provides strategic-level advice on Family Governance and Family Office Structuring and Services. He brings deep expertise in establishing and evolving family office operations, governance frameworks and long-term strategies. Prior to joining Scott Capital Partners, Sir James was the CEO of Weybourne, the Dyson family office, from 2013 to 2025. During his tenure, he played a central role in developing Weybourne’s strategy and governance as well as establishing their headquarters in Singapore. Sir James served in the British Army for 36 years. His senior appointments included Commander of NATO’s Allied Rapid Reaction Corps, Deputy Commander of Coalition Forces in Afghanistan, and Director of Counter-Terrorism at the UK Ministry of Defence. He served on operations in Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan before retiring in 2013 in the rank of Lieutenant General.
